Different names are given to the chess games according to the different time controls. In fact a time of two hours or more is given to a standard short chess game usually. Where as in a rapid game 20-45 minutes of time is mentioned and in an attacking game the time is within the range of 5-15 minutes. Even you will find shorter time controls, for instance 3 minutes per game or 1 minute per game which is referred to 'lightning' or 'bullet'. In fact those who are not well acquainted with chess game it will make them frustrating.

As usual we know normally a player loses the game if he/she unable to complete his moves in time. In some cases the game is declared as drawn exceptionally if the player has sufficient time but still does not have sufficient material to win. In fact those who win the game normally he has sufficient time in his had and he may call the referee to declare as a draw. In that situation the arbiter will check the position of the chess board and make his final decision.

In some tournaments, you will find some several issues on the time controls like both players may be run out of time. In these cases that time issue happens when a player may not notice his opponent's flag fell until his own does too. Any how that game is declared as drawn. That is why the chess players are responsible for checking their opponent's time in most tournaments. But in some tournaments the referee may indicate a flag fall as well. Indeed these details are mere importance and rules are now reviewed.

Really the time is the most important aspect of a player in his chess game. You should keep your time and try to avoid getting into time trouble. If you will not consider the time seriously you may be annoyed and it will lead to bad results. In fact it will be rational if you will not try to play too quickly even you should not take the risk of blundering. You should make adjustment in your move as you know as two hours are allocated for the whole game.

So you need to calculate and make this about 3 minutes per move for your 40 moves averagely. You may take chances to play faster if the game is going lengthy. You need to think little to your early moves and in some cases some moves are more or less automatic. In fact in some difficult situation you need to take some time to think about your move. Importantly you should be alert enough with rationally to your move as well as to your opponent’s move in a specific time.
